a collective home to support each other .
A fully mutual housing cooperative: a home to allow us and others to stay in our community despite the housing crisis.
Starting a housing co-op is our only route to know that we won’t be priced out of our area and city, and can remain rooted in the community in which we work, live and organise.
Cinnabar will be a community resource as well as our home, representing a gentrification-proof legacy of affordable housing after we are gone.
What is a housing cooperative?
In a fully mutual housing cooperative every member is a resident and every resident is a member. Decisions are undertaken collectively, with all members having equal power. Cinnabar Coop is part of the Radical Routes Network - we’re proud to be part of the wider cooperative movement.
We’re asking for help with loanstock
Loanstock is made up of fixed term loans made to the coop by individuals or organisations. Investing in housing coop loanstock is an ethical and secure investment. Loanstock allows housing co-operatives to raise capital in order to carry out their objectives without requiring members to invest a fortune in order to join. It is an important co-operative principle that personal wealth should not be a limiting factor to membership.
